Sundial successfully employs a Six Sigma Statistical approach to quality. Quality affects the type of artisan we train, the complexity of the pre-treatment water system, and the powder coating process. By using digital travelers in the powder coating shop, line workers can visually identify important areas (i.e. Hook marks, Powder Build up, Packaging, Etc). Travelers are also designed to collect data, (i.e. Chemical Titration, Cure Temp, Thickness, Gloss Level, Etc). This information is then plugged into a specially designed database created by Powdersoft. The end result is quality that is visual, measured and repeated.

Regularly scheduled maintenance is conducted weekly to ensure that all equipment is running properly and meeting our self-imposed effiency guidelines.


PACKAGING AND INSPECTION
Every powder coating project is inspected by trained quality controllers prior to packaging. Our inspection staff methodically searches for and inspects parts that do not meet our guidelines. All parts and materials receive a Certificate of Compliance ensuring that proper materials and standards were followed.

Expert testing equipment is used to accurately measure:

• Thickness (ASTM D1186)
• Gloss (ASTM D-523)
• and other industrial specific testing procedures

MEK RUB TEST
The MEK Rub Test, otherwise known as the Methyl Ethyl Ketone resistance test, is an effective method to ensure that our powder coatings are properly cured.

BEND TESTING TEST
As per ASTM D1737, Bend testing indicates the level of adhesion and flexibility of a finish on test panels.

IMPACT TESTING
As per ASTM D279, Impact Testing indicates adhesion properties of the finish when rapidly deformed.

CROSS-HATCH ADHESION TESTING
Cross-hatch adhesion testing is a simple and effective test. Per ASTM D-3359 A&B, Cross-Hatch tape adhesion testing is used to evaluate the bonding properties of the finish to the substrate.
