Consumer Powder Coating Solutions - More Durable and Less Expensive Than Spray Painting

Benefits of Sundial's Powder Coating

What is Powder Coating? - Advanced Performance Powder Coating Benefits

Powder coating is an advanced finishing process for a wide range of parts, materials and products used by industries and consumers where a decorative and protective coating, or finish, is applied to the substrate's surface to protect it from heat, cold, grime, scratching, corrosion, bleaching and most any challenge the weather may present.

The powder Sundial uses for the powder coating process is a mixture of finely ground particles made of pigment and resin. The powder, which is electrically charged, is sprayed onto the metal or aluminum surface that requires coating. By curing the powder and the product together in an oven, the charged powder particles adhere to the electrically grounded surfaces until heated and fused and a smooth coating is formed.

Powder Coating is also Electrostatic Powder Coating

Sundial applies its advanced powder coating techniques to aluminum extrusion and die casting products, such as fences

Thus, powder coating is often referred to as electrostatic powder coating. The powder coating and oven curing results is a uniform, durable, high-quality and attractive finish. Powder coating is the fastest-growing part, material and product finishing technology in North America, representing over 10% of all industrial finishing applications.

However, the powder coating process is not just about the quality of paint and equipment used when spraying and curing a product piece. As Shivie Dhillon, owner and President of Sundial Powder Coatings, likes to repeat, "if the pre-treatment process (before powder coating) does not effectively remove all foreign particles on the product - dust, grease, grime, solids - the powder coating will not last as long as it should."

Sundial's commitment to quality and innovation sparked the invention of the ONLY 7-stage pre-treatment wash process in southern California where parts, materials and products are subjected to a one-of-a-kind, intense cleansing.

As Shivie Dhillon says, "Unless It's a 7-Stage Wash, You May As Well Spray Paint It."

Powder Coating is Environmentally Friendly

Sundial powder coating is environmentally safe - no VOC's, no carcinogens, unlike spray painting

The powder coating process itself offers another advantage - it is environmentally friendly . . . virtually pollution-free! Unlike the liquid paint used in a typical spray painting process, there are not any solvents used in our powder coating process - so only negligible amounts of volatile organic compounds, or VOC's, if any, are released into the atmosphere during hte powder coating process. Additionally, powder coating does not contain carcinogens like spray paint. Moreover, unused or oversprayed powder is always recovered, not released into the atmosphere, so any waste is negligible and can be disposed of easily, safely, and in an environmentally friendly way.

How Great Is Powder Coating?
Listen to our Customers

" My wife and I bought a new aluminum patio furniture set 4 years ago. After 2 years, it had faded, been bleached, scratched by falling branches and there were rust pockets all over it. Sundial picked it up from my home, sandblasted it and then powder coated it. They were able to match the exact manufacturer's color. Here we are entering our 3rd year with our powder coated patio furniture set from Sundial and there is not a piece of rust, corrosion, or scratch to be found. The color has not faded from its original sheen either and that's saying something since we leave the furniture in the hot Los Angeles sun year round."

" I bought a set of patio chairs and an outdoor table last year for $2,500 from a well-known outdoor furniture store. After only a few months in the sun, the entire set had faded badly. I was embarrased keeping it in my backyard so wanted to throw it away and buy another. A friend of mine told me about powder coating (I had never heard of powder coating before) and then said that Shivie at Sundial in LA was the best at it and could offer the best deal. Sundial picked up my chairs and tables and had them back to me in a week. They looked gorgeous and shiny, just like when I bought them new. I spent $500 to get them powder coated and I'm told that it will continue to look like new for years and years to come. Thanks, Shivie. You not only saved me $2,500 but I would've spent another $2,500 on new patio furniture. I'll give $500 to get back $5,000 any day."
- Joanna B., Beverly Hills, CA

"Our beloved smoker has received a new lease on life thanks to Sundial’s powder coating process! We spent $300 on powder coating and saved a bundle. Not only does the finish last for years but the replacement cost for our smoker was astronomical. We basically bought a new $5,000 smoker for $300 (price of powder coating). Powder coating with Shivie at Sundial is a no-brainer. You're the best. Thanks again."
- Fred P., Sherman Oaks, CA

"Don't buy new car rims or a motorcycle rims! Restore them at a tenth of the cost with powder coating!"
