Six Sigma Statistical Quality Control
Sundial successfully employs a Six Sigma Statistical approach to quality. Quality affects the type of artisan we train, the complexity of the pre-treatment water system, and the powder coating process. By using digital travelers in the powder coating shop, line workers can visually identify important areas (i.e. Hook marks, Powder Build up, Packaging, Etc). Travelers are also designed to collect data, (i.e. Chemical Titration, Cure Temp, Thickness, Gloss Level, Etc). This information is then plugged into a specially designed database created by Powdersoft. The end result is quality that is visual, measured and repeated.

| Sundial's powder coated aluminum products successfully endure 4,000 hours of simulated and extreme outdoor weather conditions in a salt spray chamber. Our state-of-the-art 7-stage pre-treatment process, high quality powder and master finishing techniques ensure that your product lasts for years without signs of corrosion, scratching, or fading. A Sundial powder coated aluminum product stands up to intense sunlight, high humidity, acid rain, salt spray, grit and grime. | The rust and corrosion in the FAILED COMPETITOR Powder Coated Flat Aluminum Panel above shows you firsthand what happens to a product when it's exposed to the same outdoor weather conditions as Sundial's powder coated products. |

| This single powder coat Direct-to-Metal 7-stage pre-treatment process by Sundial shows ZERO-to-MINIMAL creepage which indicates how well the adhesion and bonding of the powder coating process prevents corrosion from spreading from a purposely scored mark on the metal substrate. Subjected to 4,000 hours of intense salt spray testing and simulated, extreme outdoor weather conditions. |

Clean Shop & Equipment
Sundial Powder Coatings has a simple philosophy: A clean shop yields clean parts. Most reworks are generated due to cross contamination
from dirt, grease and powders. Our employees are trained in the fine art of powder coating and take pride in keeping a safe and clean working
environment. Regularly scheduled maintenance is conducted weekly to ensure that all equipment is running properly and meeting our self-imposed effiency
guidelines.
Packaging and Inspection
Every powder coating project is inspected by trained quality controllers prior to packaging. Our inspection staff methodically searches for and inspects
parts that do not meet our guidelines. All parts and materials receive a Certificate of Compliance ensuring that proper materials and standards
were followed.
Powder Coating Testing
Expert testing equipment is used to accurately measure:
Spectrometer - CD- 6834
The overall appearance of a product is influenced by color and gloss. A sample of the same color but higher gloss level is visually perceived darker and more saturated than a low gloss sample. In order to get a uniform appearance, both attributes need to be controlled. The spectroguide spectrophotometer is unique as it measures both attributes simultaneously. Thus, the cause of a mismatch can be clearly defined in any situation.
M.E.K. Rub Test
The MEK Rub Test, otherwise known as the Methyl Ethyl Ketone resistance test, is an effective method to ensure that our powder coatings are properly cured.
Conical Mandrel Tester
Standards: ASTM D 522, D 1737; DIN 53150; ISO 6819, 6860
The varying mandrel diameter (1/8 to 1.5 inches, 3.2mm- 38.1mm) stretches a coating through a gradient of distension, allowing precise determination of adhesion characteristics.
Impact Testers
The experience of many years has taught that the bending and stretching of the metal base on which a coating was applied provided valuable information on the elastic and adhesive characteristics of the coating. Numerous types of instruments have been used: powered elongation testers, cylindrical or conical mandrels, manual or powered indenters and falling weight indenters.
The falling weight indenters are normally most severe due to the "shock" nature of the test. Many different falling weight indenters are now in use and it is the design purpose of the new UNIVERSAL IMPACT TESTER, MODEL 172, to provide a range of operating capability that matches or exceeds most of these existing instruments. In addition, MODEL 172, with selected auxiliaries, exceeds specification ASTM D 2794.
" My wife and I bought a new aluminum patio furniture set 4 years ago. After 2 years, it had faded, been bleached, scratched by falling branches and there were rust pockets all over it. Sundial picked it up from my home, sandblasted it and then powder coated it. They were able to match the exact manufacturer's color. Here we are entering our 3rd year with our powder coated patio furniture set from Sundial and there is not a piece of rust, corrosion, or scratch to be found. The color has not faded from its original sheen either and that's saying something since we leave the furniture in the hot Los Angeles sun year round."

" I bought a set of patio chairs and an outdoor table last year for $2,500 from a well-known outdoor furniture store. After only a few months in the sun, the entire set had faded badly. I was embarrased keeping it in my backyard so wanted to throw it away and buy another. A friend of mine told me about powder coating (I had never heard of powder coating before) and then said that Shivie at Sundial in LA was the best at it and could offer the best deal. Sundial picked up my chairs and tables and had them back to me in a week. They looked gorgeous and shiny, just like when I bought them new. I spent $500 to get them powder coated and I'm told that it will continue to look like new for years and years to come. Thanks, Shivie. You not only saved me $2,500 but I would've spent another $2,500 on new patio furniture. I'll give $500 to get back $5,000 any day."
- Joanna B., Beverly Hills, CA
"Our beloved smoker has received a new lease on life thanks to Sundial’s powder coating process! We spent $300 on powder coating and saved a bundle. Not only does the finish last for years but the replacement cost for our smoker was astronomical. We basically bought a new $5,000 smoker for $300 (price of powder coating). Powder coating with Shivie at Sundial is a no-brainer. You're the best. Thanks again."
- Fred P., Sherman Oaks, CA
"Don't buy new car rims or motorcycle rims! Restore them at a tenth of the cost with powder coating!"
- Jonathan D., San Diego, CA
