Stage #1: Heavy Alkaline Degreaser

• Dedicated degreasing stage
• 128 degree pressure wash
• Heated power wash, very aggressive cleaner
• Fed by de-ionized water

Benefits: The cleaner product results in superior coating application and performance. The better the surface is prepared, the better the end product!

The Heavy Alkaline Degreaser stage subjects the substrate - steel, metal, aluminum - to over 90 seconds of ideal dwell cleaning time meaning the substrate is exposed to a pressure wash, entry to exit, for 90 seconds. This amount of time is considered an ideal cleaning time.

 

Stage #2: DI-water Rinse (Neutralizing Bath)

• Stops the degreasing process
• Neutralizes the degreaser
• Considered a sacrifice stage

Benefits: Prevents potential damage to the surface… again resulting in a higher quality finished product.

The DI-water Rinse stage, also known as the De-ionized Water Rinse stage, is a bath that's measured by how many total dissolved solids (TDS's) that are in the water. The DI-water Rinse neutralizes the Stage 1 alkaline degreaser chemical, prevents over exposure to it and stops the cleaning process.

 

Stage #3: DI-water Rinse (De-ionization)

• An actual pure rinse that significantly lessens the amount of solids in the water
• Properly prepares the substrate - steel, metal or aluminum - for powder coating

Benefits: Assures an even and consistent application of the stage 4 process, resulting in higher quality finished products.

 

Stage #4: Dedicated Iron Phosphate

• 128 degree chemical coating stage
• Heated coater
• Designed for ideal and proper dwell time
• Titrated every tow (2) hours
• Environmentally friendly
• Superior to the use of Zinc Phosphate using a non-chromate conversion
• Substrate can withstand over 1,000 hours of exposure to direct salt spray

Benefits: When the surface is ‘etched’ correctly, it allows for more even application of the powder coating material and improved bonding. The cleaner the surface… the better the bond… The result… better -looking, higher quality, more durable finished products. And… the happier your customer is!

 

Stage #5: DI-water Rinse (Neutralizing Bath)

• The DI-water rinse stage is sacrifice stage #2 in the pre powder coating treatment process
• Stops and neutralizes the dedicated iron phosphate coating stage
• Total dissolved solid levels (TDS's) are re-measured

Benefits: Assures an even and consistent application of the stage 7 sealing process, resulting in higher quality finished products. The better the surface is prepared… the better the end product. The result… better-looking, higher quality, more durable finished products. And, happier customers!

 

Stage #6: Super Pure DI-water Rinse

• Fresh de-ionized water
• Cleaner than drinking water
• Total dissolved solids (TDS's) are maintained at under 200 parts per million followed by a halo inlet system contributing 5 parts TDS per million

Benefits: If any contaminants are left on the surface before sealing, they will cause the application issue "even powder distribution" or "bonding" and raise the potential for product failure. A super pure rinse with de-ionized water makes sure that doesn’t happen.

 

Stage #7 Sealant and Non-Chromate (Variable Sealer)

• A stand-alone stage
• New chemical baths created per job
• Chemicals are always fresh for each new project
• Bulk 1900 is a sealant designed fro all metals
• Bulk 2100 is high-performance aluminum non-chromate dry-in-place conversion stage

Benefits: Metal surfaces are not even and can also be somewhat porous. The "sealing process" helps to microscopically smooth out the surface and eliminate porosity.
